Inflammation of the prostate gland is the most common disease in men over 40 years of age, which in rare cases is inferior to heart pathologies.When a person is diagnosed, the natural question arises - where exactly did this disease come from?
The causes of prostatitis in men are numerous;it is almost impossible to name exactly what influenced the development of the pathology in a particular patient.However, certain factors, such as a poor lifestyle and alcohol abuse, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.
Another feature of the disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can immediately provoke pathology, while others affect the man's body for years and only after 40-45 years are they detected from the first stage of prostatitis.
In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (regardless of the presence of infection).
Causes of abacterial prostatitis
Not only the development of infections leads to the appearance of the disease.The onset of pathology can also be caused by:
- irregular structure of the prostate gland, which leads to compression of the prostate;
- deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
- decreased testosterone levels;
- permanent injuries to the perineum and too intense physical activity that lead to muscle tension;
- unstable sex life, as well as interrupted intercourse;
- too much sexual activity, due to which the body does not recover properly;
- consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which certainly lead to deterioration of potency;
- too little daily activity, leading to congestion and constipation;
- regular hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.
Clinical tests confirm that prostatitis often occurs due to improper nutrition, poor quality food, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.
Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology
The causes of bacterial nature include several factors in the development of the disease:
- too weak immunity, which can be a consequence of an incorrect lifestyle;
- genitourinary diseases of an infectious nature (bacteria move to the prostate from the bladder);
- venereal diseases.Most often characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
- intestinal diseases.It is very easy for microorganisms to get from the intestine to the prostate, passing "by it".
With age, the causes increase and the body's defenses weaken, so the disease most often develops after 40-45 years.
The main symptoms of prostatitis in men
There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms are noticeable in the initial stage of the disease, and in the second they can no longer be ignored:
- the process of urination is disturbed, it becomes more frequent, the pressure weakens, and a droplet emptying syndrome is observed;
- sharp pain begins to appear in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen;
- sexual dysfunction develops and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.
Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:
- an increase in temperature is possible due to the sharp development of inflammatory processes, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
- the pain radiates to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
- in the perineal area there is a feeling of burning, swelling and increased temperature;
- the perineum is painful or unpleasant to the touch;
- during urination there is a burning sensation, pain, the urine darkens, blood is even visible in it;
- at a time when you do not want to go to the toilet, urine can leak out of the urethra.
Similar symptoms, but less severe, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.It is necessary to be regularly examined by a doctor after 40 years, since there is also an asymptomatic form of the pathology.
How to treat different forms of prostatitis?
There are a huge number of methods for treating prostatitis, and not all of them involve major surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the more gentle regimens are used for its treatment.
Drug therapy
To treat prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial form) are used, as well as alpha-blockers, natural substances to increase immunity and eliminate inflammation.Medicines that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many drugs, so there will always be those that are suitable for the individual characteristics of a particular person's body.You cannot choose medicines yourself at the pharmacy;you should always rely on a doctor's prescription.
Surgical intervention
Radical methods of treatment are used extremely rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:
- transurethral resection - a special tool is inserted into the urinary canal, which removes part of the prostate gland and removes pressure on the urethra.It is performed without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
- prostatectomy is an operation in the abdominal cavity aimed at eliminating a greatly enlarged prostate.
Non-surgical methods
Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the rehabilitation period after them takes only a few days, a maximum of 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:
- thermal methods - elimination using high temperatures;
- ultrasound treatment;
- cryodestruction - removal with liquid nitrogen;
- laser therapy - division of a tumor with a laser;
- magnetic methods with laser reinforcement - the use of magnet and laser to improve blood circulation and quick recovery of damaged tissue;
- Balloon urethral dilatation – a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.
Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are even such unusual methods of impact as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be quite effective!
